Focused on crisis intervention, advocacy, and community liaison to build sustainable safety for wāhine and tamariki (women and children).  This may involve Case Management, Safety Planning and Risk Assessment, Advocacy with government agencies (Police, WINZ, Housing), Group work, and Whānau-Centred Support.

Your focus will be on trauma-informed care and therapeutic support, under appropriate supervision. This includes:

• Individual and Group Support: Providing direct one-on-one and group support to wāhine and tamariki who have experienced domestic violence.

• Crisis Intervention: Assisting with the immediate emotional needs of clients utilizing our 24/7 crisis line and safe house.

• Counselling Frameworks: Applying relevant theoretical frameworks within a Kaupapa Māori context.

• Specialised Services: Opportunities to work within specific services, such as our Kaumātua Support team or the Rongomātāne Men's Centre, depending on your specialisation and the service's capacity.

Placements are considered on a case-by-case basis, tailored to align your study area with our current projects and needs
