Whare Ora (Safe House)

We provide a secure place to heal and have our Kaiwhakahaere Matua onsite  for pastoral care and support. Our approach is underpinned by Kaupapa Māori principles that fosters whakapapa connections, emotional resilience, and holistic wellbeing.

FOR TAMARIKI AND RANGATAHI

Safety. Aroha. Stability.

Tamariki and rangatahi are often the silent victims of violence. We work with the entire whānau to increase safety and support, ensuring the needs of our young people are met. Our services are designed to help them heal and thrive, no matter their age.

For our youngest children, this could mean supporting their access to kōhanga reo and early childhood education. For school-aged tamariki and rangatahi, we can work with their school to secure extra support, or help them explore hobbies, interests, and pathways to positive community engagement.

Every child deserves a chance to grow up in a safe, loving environment, and we are committed to making that a reality.

FOR TANE

Self-reflection. Healing. Accountability.

We believe all whānau should have access to tools for change and this includes tāne. Te Whare Tiaki Rongomātāne Men's Centre provides a separate space for men who are seeking help to make positive changes in their lives and who are ready for change. We have programmes that support them on their journey to becoming the best version of themselves for the well-being of their whānau and themselves.

FOR KAUMĀTUA

Dignity. Respect. Freedom.

We offer a Cultural Elder Abuse Response Service to support kuia, kaumātua, and older people from diverse ethnic communities who are experiencing abuse. Our focus is on providing a supportive cultural response to elders from Māori, Pasifika, Asian, African, Middle Eastern, and migrant communities. We ensure elders are respected, valued, and safe within their whānau.

We also have a drop in space for our elders to come and have a cuppa and chat during the week from 9am -3pm, Monday to Friday.
